Simon Clifford
Like most in the logistics industry, I didn’t ‘choose’ logistics – it chose me. I originally trained as an accountant but got involved in supply chain, and that was it. I was hooked. The logistics industry has been good to me in the years since that point, and I've been fortunate enough to work with many of the UK’s leading organisations, across many different sectors including consumer, retail, foodservice, automotive, defence, Government and industry. Despite the differences between sectors, Customers face common challenges – How can the supply chain help me grow my Business? Improve my own Customer’s experience? Be more resilient? React quicker? Deal with the disruption of the eCom world? I’ve realised that I’m happiest when with a Customer, working with them to achieve their ambitions by enabling their supply chains to perform better and deliver tangible value to their businesses and I am just as passionate today about this as I was at the outset. Of course, one picks up a deep technical understanding of supply chains along the way, but this is secondary to the privilege of working through sales teams, working together to develop sales strategy, grow individual capabilities, improve bid management, develop value propositions, produce winning proposals, and collaborate with business units, solutions teams and other internal stakeholders to grow business with like-minded customers. If you believe that I might be of help to you, or if you want to ask any questions about my experience then please feel free to connect and message me; I will always try to respond quickly.
